My Thoughts
I am a daughter of Heavenly Father. This statement is something I hold so dear to my heart. Whenever I feel alone or lost in life I know that my Father is always there for me. I know that when I feel down and depressed that my Father loves me and desires me to feel my great worth. I know that I can accomplish worthwhile things as I cleave to the teachings of prophets and apostles and be the daughter my Father wants me to be. When times are hard I can remember who I am. Remembering this helps me remember other important truths – I am important. People cannot make me feel worthless or undesired – others cannot take my divine nature away. I need to be an example to those around me. If I am a daughter of a King, which I am, I need to act like it. I need to watch my thoughts, words, and deeds always and be the best example I can be. I am so blessed with this knowledge.
Quotes
“This is a paradox of man:
compared to God, man is nothing; yet we are everything to God. While against
the backdrop of infinite creation we may appear to be nothing, we have a spark
of eternal fire burning within our breast. We have the incomprehensible promise
of exaltation—worlds without end—within our grasp. And it is God’s great desire
to help us reach it.. . .
“The Lord doesn’t care at all if we spend our
days working in marble halls or stable stalls. He knows where we are, no matter
how humble our circumstances. He will use—in His own way and for His holy
purposes—those who incline their hearts to Him.. . .
“The most
powerful Being in the universe is the Father of your spirit. He knows you. He
loves you with a perfect love. God sees you not only as a mortal being on a
small planet who lives for a brief season—He sees you as His child. He sees you
as the being you are capable and designed to become. He wants you to know that
you matter to Him.”
Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "You
Matter to Him." Ensign. November 2011, 19-22
“You are not forgotten. Sisters, wherever you are, whatever your circumstances may be, you are not forgotten. No matter how dark your days may seem, no matter how insignificant you may feel, no matter how overshadowed you think you may be, your Heavenly Father has not forgotten you. In fact, He loves you with an infinite love. Just think of it: You are known and remembered by the most majestic, powerful, and glorious Being in the universe! You are loved by the King of infinite space and everlasting time! He who created and knows the stars knows you and your name—you are the daughters of His kingdom.”
Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Forget Me Not, Ensign." November 2011, 120-123
"Sisters, find some time for yourself to cultivate your gifts and interests. Pick one or two things that you would like to learn or do that will enrich your life, and make time for them. Water cannot be drawn from an empty well and if you are not setting aside a little time for what replenishes you, you will have less and less to give to others, even to your children. Avoid any kind of substance abuse, mistakenly thinking that it will help you accomplish more. And don't allow yourself to be caught up in the time-wasting, mind-numbing things like television soap operas or surfing the Internet. Turn to the Lord in faith, and you will know what to do and how to do it."
"[Paul C. Child] quoted from the Doctrine and Covenants, including section 18 concerning the worth of a soul, indicating that we should labor all our days to bring souls unto the Lord. He then turned to one elders quorum president and asked, 'What is the worth of a soul?' "The stunned quorum president hesitated as he formulated his reply. I had a prayer in my heart that he would be able to answer the question. He finally responded, 'The worth of a soul is its capacity to become as God.' "Brother Child closed his scriptures, walked solemnly and quietly up the aisle and back to the stand. As he passed by me, he said, 'A most profound reply.' "
"When we remember that each of us is literally a spirit son or daughter of God, we will not find it difficult to approach our Heavenly Father in prayer. He appreciates the value of this raw material which we call life. 'Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God' (D&C 18:10). His pronouncement inspires purpose in our lives."
"Only as we accept the Atonement in our lives and strive to live the gospel can we meet the challenges of life and find peace, joy, and happiness. Coming to understand this great gift is an individual pursuit for each child of God. . . .
"If we could truly understand the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, we would realize how precious is one son or daughter of God."
"We are children of God. Each one of us is precious to the point of bringing the Lord God Almighty to a fulness of joy if we are faithful, or to tears if we are not."
"Heirs to the Kingdom of God," Ensign, May 1995, 61–62 , "Did you know that Heavenly Father knows you personally--by name? . . .
"You may not have heard the Lord call you by name, but He knows each one of you and He knows your name. Elder Neal A. Maxwell said. 'I testify to you that God has known you individually . . . for a long, long time (see D&C 93:23). He has loved you for a long, long time. He not only knows the names of all the stars (see Psalm 147:4; Isaiah 40:26); He knows your names and all your heartaches and your joys!' ("Remember How Merciful the Lord Hath Been," Ensign, May 2004, 46)."
